Porto or the Algarve in early April?

In the RS Portugal book he lists the Algarve as a “must see” while Porto is a “try hard to see”. It seems like the general opinion of most other people on the internet is the other way around. We will be in Portugal in early April and I can only pick one area because of our shorter trip time and considering it’s not summertime I’m assuming the south wouldn’t be so appealing. Also, I don’t want to go to Europe for beach towns, if that’s what the south is all about. I could be wrong.

I disagree with RS on this, too. Porto is lovely, very unique and worth your time.

Be aware of the Easter holiday. Easter is 31 March so things will be very busy the first week of April. If you can come after the 7th, it will have quieted down a bit and hotels will be cheaper.

I agree that it will be more worthwhile for you to visit Porto.
