Porto or Evora (early March)

We have three full days to fill in our itinerary and are trying to decide between Porto (and surrounding areas) or Evora (and surrounding areas). With your suggestions, please keep in mind that this trip will be in the first two weeks of March. We realize it will be chilly but want to make sure things will be open wherever we end up going..

Background information: We are food lovers! We like to sample the local cuisine, eat like a local, and visit markets. We also enjoy exploring small towns/villages and learning about the history of an area especially through walking tours. We are NOT into art museums or hiking/outdoor activities.

Which of these two areas do you think we would enjoy more and offers more of what we enjoy?

What are your must see suggestions? Day trips? Markets? Restaurants suggestions where the locals might eat?

What area do you suggest we get a hotel where restaurants and shopping are walkable?

Thank you!

In my opinion, both are worthy.

The Evora region is agricultural but has some really nice hotels and is somewhat more rural.
You would probably need a car.

Porto is obviously a major city and probably has more options for things like walking tours
and easy access to dining and nightlife. You also have the option to explore the Douro
Valley, which has scenery, wineries, smaller towns.

What are your plans before and after these 3 nights? I would lean towards picking the city which is on the way between the 2.
