Porto-Lisbon-Terceira

Hello!
We have 5 days in mainland Portugal before flying over to Terceira.
We plan on flying Boston-Porto
My question is should we take a day and go from Porto to Lisbon? We could book our flight to Terceira out of Lisbon.
Should we just stay in Porto the whole time?
I have never been to either Porto or Lisbon but my husband loves Porto. I'm up for driving down the coast and stopping in Obidos and Sintra before arriving in Lisbon. Help! I want to use our time efficiently but also want to see as much as I can.

What would you suggest?
Thanks in advance for your help.

To me, Lisbon is quite a bit more interesting than Porto. Not that there's anything wrong with Porto, but I wouldn't spend five days there and ignore Lisbon/Sintra.

Porto is special, you must spend at least a full day there.
Recommend a great B and B in Porto, it is The InPatio Guesthouse near the river, great location. This is a fantastic place to stay with wonderful people and super breakfasts.

Also, consider a river cruise on the Douro River.

There is a fast train from Porto to Lisbon.

I would spend at least one night in Porto, two if you arrive late in the PM. Then train down to Lisbon and spend the rest of your time there.

Rick Steves guide has three walking tours of Lisbon and one starts at St. George's Castle and goes down the hill. That is a good one.
