My husband and I are travelling from Australia to Oslo for son’s wedding in August then thinking of side trip to Porto before leaving for Malta in September then returning to Australia. I prefer not too hot weather and thinking Porto may be slightly cooler climate. Any suggestions for a week in Porto or maybe where to escape such hot weather in Portugal. I am almost committed to Porto due to other family members meeting up there.

It can be quite hot in Porto but the uncomfortable heat usually only lasts a day or two at a time. Anyplace close to the coast in Portugal will be cooler than inland. The Douro valley, for instance, can get several degrees hotter. It varies so much in the summer, there is no predicting it.
FYI - Porto is very crowded in August. Book as far as out as possible.

Yes glad to hear Porto maybe slightly cooler inland in August.
Thanks so much for all your information I think we may change our plans and instead of spending all our time in Porto maybe split to 5 nights in Porto and 5 in Lisbon
