Porto - how many days?

We are interested in exploring Porto and the Douro Valley wine destinations in late May or early June. Will have a local friend's car. We thought three nights would be adequate but we are flexible. Any thoughts re: number of days, itinerary suggestions? We enjoy history, architecture, museums, food and wine tastings. Would be interested in Douro river day cruise. Any favourites? Hotel or Air BnB recommendations? TIA, Sherry

We stayed in Porto for five nights last spring and had plenty to fill that amount of time - with lots of things left for another trip. We did a day trip to the Douro, but with a tour company since we didn't have a car. I opted for the van tour over a river cruise and was happy with it.
We stayed in a lovely apartment close to the Rebeira area. It was with Casas do Porto and was one of the better apartments I've rented in Europe, and the management was great as well. The area very close to the apartment had lots of great restaurants, too.

Hi Sherry,

We loved every minute of our 3 days in Porto. It's a great city to wander- so unique and beautiful. We loved our stay at Go2oporto Vitoria Place, found on Booking.com. Luis was super helpful with all things Porto, and we would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Thanks for your responses. Am still investigating this destination and am waiting for our friends in Portugal for suggestions as well.
Cheers, Sherry
