Porto Help?

Hi All,

My family (myself, wife and 5 year old daughter) are traveling to Porto for a week in May. Looking to rent a place while there. Looking for some guidance on:

  1. Best neighborhood. Priorities are safety, walkability, and proximity to market, shopping, restaurants.
  2. Trustworthy alternatives to VRBO.
  3. Recommendations on English speaking guides to get us oriented/familiarized with city.
  4. Any Duoro river tour outfits better than others?

Obrigado!

We stayed at this apartment for a few days this past July. Great location, price, and big! They have different apartments in the same building.

Porto is extremely easy to navigate and enjoy, we just followed the advice and maps in the book. We also drove along the Douro River and visited a winery... again, this was in the book as well and very easy to follow. You must try the francesinha sandwich... one of the best sandwiches in the world!!!

Hi Steve,

We are travelling to Porto via car in less than 2 weeks, after we stay in Lisboa for a few days.

I used a very popular service called AirBnB to book our accommodations, you should try this out!

As we are from Canada, and with no knowledge of Portuguese or Spanish, we are also winging it without an English guide; however...that is the whole fun of travelling to a new country!
