Porto for 2 days

Hi Everyone,

We will be in Porto for 2 days with a car. We have booked a bike tour for 3 hours on one of the days. Wondering your thoughts on doing a day trip on the other day? I have been looking at us driving to the Duoro Valley, Braga, Aviero, or anywhere else that might be interesting. Or just stay in Porto for the 2 days? We like to do anything outdoors, eating local foods, and drinking wines.

Thanks in advance for any places that you have enjoyed visiting.

With only two days, stay in Porto which has so much to see. I hope you can add a few days there.
For a day trip (only if you add more time to Porto area) I recommend Guimares, Portugal’s first Capital city. It has an historical center, a castle and excellent dining. We stayed at the Pousada.

We just got back from Portugal. Among other stops, we spent 3 days in Porto and 3 in Duoro Valley. Duoro is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen (and I live near the Napa and Russian River valleys in CA). Drive there is about 2.5 hours from Porto and my husband did wine/port tasting at the Quintas. If there is a way to fit Duoro in, I’d recommend it. It was my favorite part of the 3 week trip!

Make sure you have a gelato or three at Gelatopia at Rua Ferreira Borges, 68. Absolutely the best I’ve ever had, anywhere!

Thank you everyone, for the responses! Since we have a car we have decided to be flexible and go with the flow! If we have time we will take a side trip one day to one of the places mentioned above. If not, it seems like there is plenty to do in Porto. We will definitely have the gelato! As Rick always says do what you can and plan on going back!
Safe travels! Thank you!

Please do try the gelato at “Cremosi” as well, and compare! One of my most memorable, when I was staying at the nearby hotel a few years ago.
