Regarding the Azores…

There are nine islands from which to choose. How many nights do you have available?

Would three or four nights be good? Should I revise anything in my above itinerary?

Stay as long as you can, but with only 4 nights fly to Ponta Delgada, Sao Miguel. SATA/Azores Airlines will be flying this route in the future. It might not be a daily flight, so you will need to check availability around your dates of travel. Choose a hotel in Ponta Delgada. Use one day to explore the city on foot. The other days should be spent in your rental car driving to as many places as you can that interest you. I would definitely visit one of the thermal springs in the village of Furnas and have dinner at one of the restaurants that serve cozido.
