We are going to be in Porto for a few days after Lisbon. We are renting a car so we can explore on the way. We will be flying out of Porto to Sevilla at approx. 1 pm on Sat., July 1.
Should we get a hotel near the airport instead of in the city? I think having a car in the city is not recommended. Is there reliable transportation from the airport to the city? I'm trying to make it convenient so we can get to the flight without any issues.

I haven't done it for several years, but when we visited the Metro (line E) went right from the airport to the central train station. It was easy and modern (at least in 2007).

I stayed at an airport hotel only because I had a very early flight out the next morning. But yes, there is reliable transportation from the center of Porto to the airport; I used the train to get out there the night before to my hotel, which was walking distance from the terminal. I would not see the point of staying out by the airport if you have that afternoon flight.
