Please- I need advice on this 2-week itinerary

Hi,
My husband and I are going to Portugal from June 3 to 19. Our flights are booked. We fly into Lisbon and then directly to Faro, arriving on the 5th. We will stay in that area for three nights. This is our next 1.5-week plan: We will take a train to Porto via Lisbon and stay in Porto for three nights. Then, we will take a train to Nazare for three nights before returning to Lisbon. We will stay in Lisbon for five nights before returning to the US. We have a VRBO in Faro, Porto and Lisbon.

We're doing this with the help of Rick Steves' books and advice from friends.

My questions

We prefer not to rent a car. I want advice on what to do/see in the Algarve and Nazare area without renting a car. We want to see "must-see" sites and relax on the beaches. What are the areas in addition to Tavira and Sintra that are easily accessible without a car?

Please advise on tours we need to schedule now, and anything anyone wants to tell me!

Thank you so much. I'm getting excited but a bit anxious.

Personally, I don't think this is the best plan. You are trying to cover a lot of distance without a car in 1.5 weeks.

Some suggestions:

  1. fly from Faro to Porto. It is most of day on a train. My son and fiance did this and were happy to save the time.

  2. Nazare is not the best location for traveling by train. How about Coimbra instead? We stayed there two nights. I thought that was enough. I would probably add the extra day to Porto. There are a lot of easy day trips from Porto. We were there 4 nights and took one day trip and could have spent another day.

Thank you for the information.

We will check out flights from Faro to Porto. To ensure I understand, would you add an extra night in Porto, take a train to Coimbra for 2 nights, and then go to Lisbon?

Thank you very much.

Thanks for the advice on flying from Faro to Porto. We will do that. However, two airports come up under TAP Air for Porto. PXO- Porto Santo and OPO - Porto. Which one should we fly into?

Thank you.

OPO - PORTO in Portugal, that's the one you want.

Porto Santo is an island near Madeira in the Atlantic Ocean.
