Planning Portugal trip for next May. Thoughts on TAP Air??

Starting to plan our trip and hope for non stop flight, business class, and TAP air seems the cheapest. Thoughts? Concerns? Advice? Assume we will fly into and out of Lisbon. Also, is May a decent time to travel there? Any other thoughts would be welcome. Thanks!

We have flown TAP several times, and we have never had any problems with them.

We visited Lisbon in April one year, and the weather was very pleasant. Not hot or cold, just perfect for sightseeing. May will be warmer than April, of course, but I think still pleasant. I wouldn't go to Portugal during the summer months - much too hot and too crowded. May will have its crowds, but not as crowded as the summer months.

I only had one experience with them. They’re thieves. I bought a ticket and canceled within the allowed 24 hours. They canceled the ticket but never refunded the money. After numerous attempted phone calls (they don’t answer) and messages through their website, I disputed the charge through my credit card and got the refund.

We’ve flown TAP several times in the past few years. They often offer the best prices from our airport and the service has been good. I will say that they are very difficult to reach by phone should you need to, but other than, no complaints. May will be a great time to go.

I agree with the other posters in that I have never had a problem unless I had to make a change or cancel. It only happened once and it wasn’t enough to put me off them. They are my preferred airline within Europe and I travel several times a year. I also fly Business class when I go to the states and am pleased with it. Just make certain you will fly before purchasing and don’t try to make changes.
All this said, for years there has been talk of selling off a portion of TAP to an another company. If and when that actually happens, it will remain seen if things as far as calling and refunds improves or not.

Thank you all for your thoughts and advice, I appreciate it so much. With one exception it seems you would all fly them again, and I now understand what to look out for. The fact they are the only nonstop is what appeals to us so much. I'm looking now for the first two weeks in May in and out of Lisbon and it's around $4000 per person round trip. Does that sound about right, or do you recommend I wait a bit and see if it may go down? Thanks so much!

For business class, that sounds like a great price. I have paid that much for premium economy (different airline) for 2 people!

Oh wait, i just realized that was $4000 per person. I was thinking $4000 total. I'm not familiar with business class to know if that is a good price or not.

I will say, in general, my flights for next year are coming in higher than previous years.
