My husband and I are planning to visit to Algarve, July 25th for nine days (not including flying time). We are flying into Lisbon, renting a car and driving to Faro.
We would love any suggestions for our trip. We prefer an easy going holiday. We would love to visit a fishing village, the local culture, food, etc.

I hate to disappoint but the Algarve is not really the place for local culture. It’s much more about the beaches and is very busy in summer with high numbers of Brits on holiday. Is there a particular reason you chose the Algarve in summer?
If a beach holiday is what you want, you might consider some of the towns in the Silver Coast area. Nice beaches with small towns that still retain more of the Portuguese culture. It’s less crowded with a number of day trips possible to places like Mafra, Alcobaça, Batalha and Tomar. Ericeira, São Martinho do Porto and Peniche would be better choices, IMO, than Faro.
