Hello,
We are planning to stay in Porto in Mid May for 3 nights and one full day of a boat cruise. Any suggestions on nice places to stay near the river, not too expensive, but with charm? Two of us are in our mid-60s, and somewhat active.
Thanks!

My husband and I went to Porto in December for my 50th birthday. We took noon train from Lisbon. We stayed at Hilton Se Catedral a Tapestry hotel. The hotel was a little funky and not luxurious but the location and the staff were fantastic!! It’s across the street from the cathedral and 2 blocks from Dom Luis bridge. We walked everywhere-never took Uber (which is easy, available and cheap!) Rogerio at hotel gave us fabulous recommendations for sightseeing, dinner (Ode Porto Wine House) and wonderful lunch next day (Brasao Coliseu for the francesinha sandwich-divine!). We were in love with Porto and wished we could have swapped a night in Lisbon for another night in Porto. The wine, the views, the people, we loved it! Hope you do, too!
Guest House Duoro is fabulous! Loved our stay there.
We're spending 3 weeks in Spain and Portugal early May and staying in Air BnBs the entire trip. The cost was much lower than the hotels and they all have elevators!
Can't recommend in the sense that we have stayed there, but have reserved for September after a good bit of research!
Neya Porto Hotel which is on the river. Read many reviews and this seemed to work for us!
We loved the InPatio Guesthouse, it only has five rooms so book early.
It may be the same recommended by an earlier poster. The rooms are spacious and modern. Breakfast is amazing and the owners so helpful. Also, great location.
