Place to stay in Cascais, Portugal

There are lots of opportunities to stay by the water, however, I'm not certain you will actually see the sun set. Of course, a lot depends on your budget and how long you will be staying. The Farol Hotel and Grand Real Villa Italia are both on the water and would possibly see sunsets but they are pricey. If you are staying more than three days, you might find a vacation rental on the water. If you just google hotels on water Cascais, and find something that looks good, I would be happy to give you an opinion - at least from what I see from the outside and its location.

Found a place I think I like... Charm of Cacais b&b... Has any one stayed there? Looks like a great place to relax and walk down to the water.

It looks lovely, but 'walking down to the water' may take you a bit. It's located in a very residential area, quite a way from downtown. The closest water is lovely but is cliffs and rocks - not beach. You might want to Google Casa da Guia. It is likely the closest area for restaurants and is quite lovely. There is also a bus that makes a loop around the town that you can catch to get to downtown and the train station. The bus is called Buscas and is number 427.

I have stayed at the Pestana Cascais many times. Nothing fancy, just a nice, well run 3 star ...but you can book a balcony with a gorgeous sea view, good size clean rooms with a kitchenette, indoor and outdoor pool. Food is not good, eat elsewhere. Directly across from an excellent bakery/cafe and a small but fully stocked grocery in a condo neighborhood. Free parking. It is a block or two down to the coast and an easy walk to seafront restaurants at Guia. Possible to walk maybe 20-30 minutes along the coast to Cascais harbor, or use a free hotel bike, and there's also a free hotel shuttle.
