Pinhao - Romaneira Cruise

I was just looking at the Cruzeiros Douro website and noticed their one-hour cruises from Pinhao to Romaneira and back, but they give you no idea where Romaneira is. What can anyone tell me about the desirability of this cruise and where Romaneira is situated?

Also, is there a winery near Pinhao that we can visit on our own without a car? We may want to consider taking the 9:20 AM train from Porto and then connecting with this one-hour cruise if it seems worthwhile as part of a one-day self-guided Douro Valley tour, but we need more information to determine whether this would be feasible. After returning to Pinhao from the one-hour cruise we could consider taking in a winery before returning on the train to Porto.

Thanks.

We stopped at Quinta Santa Eufémia Winery in the Douro Valley. I can’t comment on public transportation because we were on the RS Portugal Tour. Perhaps their is an available wine tour? Absolutely beautiful scenery, wonderful lunch & excellent variety of wines. Most of us bought wine to share at our next stop. It was one of our favorite highlights of our tour! https://www.qtastaeufemia.com/i-index.html

One hour round trip is short in the realm of Douro Valley cruises, so you’re not going far. You probably are stopping at a riverside outpost of this winery that I found on Google maps: quintadaromaneira.pt.

If you don’t have Rick ‘s guidebook to Portugal, I recommend it. He mentions that a round trip taxi from Pinhao to one of the closer wineries can work for about 25 euros roundtrip.

Hi
Romaneira is a farm / winery (Quinta da
Romaneira) east of Pinhao located in Cotas, Alijo.
It is one the largest vineyards in the area with 412 hectares and about 3 kilometers of riverfront.
Unfortunately their site is only in Portuguese but you can try using Google translate on the site.

Happy travels

I stayed in Pinhão and took a one hour cruise from there up river. It really is just about the scenery and, frankly, one hour was enough for me. I’m the fall, the scenery was lovely, as was some of the train ride.

Quinta de la Rosa winery is very close to Pinhão and they have tours plus a lovely restaurant right on the river. There is at least one winery even closer to town but I can’t remember the name. If you look at Google maps, it will show you the wineries/quintas close to town.

I think doing this as a day trip on your own would be feasible. But, there are also a number of companies that do small group tours as day trips and they are quite nice, too.
