Peneda Geres national Park

Hi

My wife and I will be in Portugal in the last third of September for 11 days net. We are starting at Porto and ending in Lisbon.

One option after Porto is to drive to Peneda Geres National Park. It is a bit of a detour because at the end we must head south to Lisbon.

I would be happy to receive feedback from people who visited the park and give me information on it - Is it a Wow or just nice.

We like nature and moderate hiking.

Thanks

David

It is nice but an inconvenience with your travel plans.

In August of 2019, my husband and I visited the park. We went with a small tour company that took 8-ish people around the park. (Neither of us were pleased with the guide or company, so I can't recommend them.) The park in nice but not amazing. We did some hiking and swimming. After lunch, the park got quite crowded, and we spent the rest of the day just driving around. Afterwards, we felt like the day was a waste. On this same trip, we took the train to Guimarães one day. There is a teleférico you can take up to Monte da Penha, which offers some hiking options and many great views.

Thank you both for the comments. We will probably skip the park.
