I will be visiting Sintra the middle of September and wanted to know if I should buy tickets before I go for the Palace and Castle. It doesn’t say anything about advanced tickets in RS guide book. If you know the website, I would appreciate it. TIA

Bonnie, there's a post from Holly titled " Lisbon report part 2" (something close to that) just few post below yours. In her post she goes into details about her visit to Sintra that I think you'll find helpful. Very detailed and informative.

RS guidebook page 165 under Sights in Sintra explicitly advises buying tickests online in advance, gives you the url and other information. RS says several days in advance; I did it just the night before (in mid June) with no problem. I also followed all the RS tips for beating crowds and managing the trip. Everything went smoothly.
