This should be an easy one but I've had conflicting info. Traveling to Portugal in 5 weeks with a return on April 30. Passport good
until Oct 4--ie 5 months from return. Portuguese Embassy online says passport must be good for 3 months after return. Other sites say must be good for 6 months after return. Tickets are booked, plans made. Thank you.

It might be a good idea to check with the airline you are flying with to see if they are following Portugal Embassy requirements. Also, make an appointment with the closest PP office just in case and cx if not needed.

Thank you for the suggestion. Called United Airlines and then cross-checked their website:
Document Validity:
Passports and other documents accepted for entry must be valid for a minimum of 3 months beyond the period of intended stay.
I hope I can take that to the bank since even an expedited renewal takes 5-7 weeks. BTW: The U.S. Passport Office said 6 months.
