Paso de regua (douro valley)

Here are some quick notes about regau in the douro valley. The hotel regau is a pain in the ass. Rude and sharp seems to the be their manner here, which is totally different from the rest of our trip in Portugal. Only one device at a time on WiFi was frustrating. The trip to pinhao was anticlimactic, though very scenic. We went to quinta do penseca, foncesca's winery and were underwhelmed. They had a private event and we were shoveled out. Not really worth the white knuckle trip up to it. It was scenic though. Buy a bottle of port instead, unless you really want to get in the vines. Gato preto restaurant is reasonable and good. Despite the language barrier the gentleman running the place was very welcoming and hospitable. Our best experience here. One other note, if you are driving to pinhau, stay to the right at the round about after crossing the bridge. Don't go left or you have to go to lemega and back to a24 to get back on n222. Beautiful drive with many hairpin turns and top of the mountains but not worth an hour of your time.
