I have to rent a car while in Lisbon and Porto. Have an 86 year old man who can't walk more than 0.5 mile at a time. So, is it easy finding parking places close to tourist sites and restaurants? Thanks
In a word, no. There are underground parking lots but not necessarily that convenient. And, parking is expensive. Uber’s and taxis are plentiful and inexpensive, so might be a better arrangement.
I don’t have a car, but friends who do rarely drive into Lisbon because of the difficulty in parking and the ease of public transport.
It's hard and expensinve parking in Porto, and driving inside the city is not easy (lot's of one way streets). So, I agree with the use of táxi and uber, and add tuk-tuk (very usefull for the narrow streets), trams lines 1, 18 and 22, and turistic buses.
Thank you for your comments
Both cities are on hills and the walking may be up hill. There are some places to park (more in Lisbon), but not much.
I suggest doing research in advance. Book a hotel that has parking. Then, you probably want to take tours.
