Options for a Beach Day

Hello - I am currently in process of planning 10 days in Portugal for myself and 5 other female friends, in Sept 2019. We plan to start in Lisbon (4 nights) including a day trip to Sintra, then a train to Evora (1 night), then a train back to Obidos (1 night), then to Duoro area (2-3 nights). One of the women really wants a beach day in there somewhere - I have convinced her that we shouldn't go to the Algarve AND to Duoro in 10 days - too much driving/bus/train. So now looking for feedback from this group, please

  1. Is there a good beach in the general area of Obidos that you would recommend - scenic and not too crazy touristy in September? and
  2. Should we drive or train from Obidos to Duoro?
    and
  3. I'll also take any ideas or suggestions for the trip itinerary.

There are beaches outside of Porto.
Nazare is on the water, has beaches as well as the areas south of it..

Cascais/Estoril has some nice beaches. And you can go by a short train ride from Lisbon. Why not go one day while in Lisbon, that way you can pick the nicest beach day. There is no direct train from Evora to Obidos. I'm pretty sure you have to go back to Lisbon, and I'm not even sure that there is a train from Lisbon to Obidos. Someone else may be able to correct me.

I would pick up a rental car at the end of Evora, and keep for the remainder of the trip. Unless you are finishing up with a couple of days in Porto where you don't really want it.

There are beaches close to Lisbon that are really nice. We stayed there for three days and each day to the local train about 15 minutes to a different beach. We even bought $5 beach towels and had one of the best meals of our whole trip at a local restaurant. The train was really cheap and easy to figure out. It makes multiple stops along the way and follows the coast. Look out the windows for a stop that looks good and get out and try it. It was really so easy to use.
