Obidos, Fatima, Alcoobaea, Nazare

I will be in Lisbon and see that many day trips are offered but only around 1 hour in Obidos. Is it advisable to rent a car and do these places in 1 day? Thanks!

Seems like a lot in a day. We didn't go to Fatima. We spent a day in Nazare.

Your drive time for the loop of Obidos to Nazare is a couple hours. Batalha monastery is very close to your sites.

We picked up a car and drove to Obidos and then Alcobaca and on to Batalha where we spent the night. Then we spent a day between San Martinho and Nazare, and on the next day we drove to Tomar, which is a lovely town with quite an interesting monastery.

I didn't think a day. Now I'm thinking rental car from Armacao de Pera to Obidos---a little over 3 hours to get there. Then Obidos then possibly stay in Nazare for night then see a couple of other places and yes Tomar as I will be headed to Coimbra. So again, leave early and drive to Obidos, stay somewhere else for night then see what I can on way to Tomar then head to Coimbra night? I guess this would be considered 2 full days.

We had significantly more time to visit those places. If just visiting as a day trip, Óbidos needs a couple hours, if you just want to see the sanctuary at Fátima you only need 1.5 hours, but if you want to see where the angel appeared, Mary appeared, and the houses of the children lived, they are a few miles from the sanctuary making the Fátima visit a half day or more. Alcobaca monastery requires a couple hours while Nazaré needs a half day (2 hours each for the upper and lower town). We liked Batalha monastery better than Alcobaca, but the Convent of Christ better than both.

Each place you mentioned has some free parking lots so look them up before going over. Even Tomar has a couple free lots, but the lot by the Convent of Christ is a pay lot.

Rome2rio can be problematic. I use it occasionally. I tend to use Google maps more
