Number of days to spend in Cascais

Place looks beautiful. We love relaxing ocean views and going out to eat and strolling around town. Is there enough to see and do for a 3 night stay? Would love any thought, recommendations. First timers to Portugal. Thankyou. Cris

I think it would depend on the rest of your itinerary. Are you also staying in Lisbon, or will you be travelling in from Cascais. We daytripped out, and enjoyed our day. I think I could have enjoyed 3 nights ( giving me two full days) if the plan was to relax from the rest of a trip. If. you are using it as your Lisbon base, you need more time. I would probably prioritize Lisbon if you have limited time

If you enjoy the things you mention, 3 nights wouldn’t be too much, IMO. But, I’ve lived here for almost 9 years and still enjoy doing those things.

The museums we have are small and the sights aren’t block buster but the town is so charming with many good restaurants. Strolling through the old town is nice plus there are walks along the water - both ways from town - that are very picturesque. Casa da Guia, Guincho beach, a bit out of town are also worth you time. Wednesday and Saturday we have a huge market that is very fun, too.

It’s better in the spring and fall and even winter because the tourists are fewer. But, it’s never really over run like Lisbon and Sintra. All this said, you do need some nights in Lisbon, too, rather than day tripping in from Cascais.

We loved Cascais, but that was following a visit or two to Lisbon.

When are you going?
How long will you be in Portugal?

In my opinion, Cascais is a good place to spend 3 or 4 days, and more if you don't require excitement. Among my recommendations, the weekly market on Wednesday mornings, the small museum at Dom Luis I Foundation if there is a traveling exhibit that catches your interest, a day trip out to Guincho beach, walking on the Paredão, and many small attractions (spend some time with the google map).
