New Express bus service from Cascais to Porto

Just an FYI for those of you who might be traveling from the Lisbon area to Porto in the future.

Scotturb - the local bus company for Cascais and Sintra - has announced a new express service from Cascais and Sintra to Porto for € 5,90. They are advertising the buses as having WiFi and bathrooms. The total time from Cascais is under four hours.

For anyone wanting to go from either Cascais or Sintra to Porto , this would be cheaper and much easier than going back into Lisbon to catch the train. The service starts 27 September, and there are four departures per day.

Thanks, great timing. We are considering the option of going direct from Lisbon airport to Sintra then direct bus to Porto and train back to Lisbon for the last leg.

Any idea where is the bus pick up in Sintra?

The website (Scotturb) says Portela. It’s the train stop right before the main train station in Sintra. If you think you want to use this service, the website has the times of departure and arrival, location, etc.
If you do the trip, please report back. I am eager to find out how it is - for my next trip to Porto.

Hi just want to update that the Scott URB website has got a bit more information on the new Sintra to Porto bus service and some reviews. I have also written to them and gotten some additional details below:

  • The trip is direct and lasts about 4 hours, and inside there are wc available to passengers.
  • The carriage of personal baggage is allowed, up to a maximum of 2 pieces per passenger up to a total of 25kg gross weight
  • Inside the vehicle you will only be allowed to carry small volumes that, due to their dimensions, weight and characteristics, can be properly packed in the appropriate places and do not constitute a risk or inconvenience to passengers

For more information about this service, you can contact them by email comercial@scotturb.com or by calling 91 356 86 93.

We took the bus on Sunday and would like to share that it went very smoothly. It is a great option for those travelling from Cascais or Sintra to Porto. In Sintra the bus stop is on the other side of the Portela train station (1 stop before Sintra train station).

It is a non stop 4hr journey but there is a WC onboard. Drop off is at Atlantic Garage (GPS coordinates on Scott URB website) <10 mins from Sao Bento train station.

Suggest that one book in advance, you can show your e-ticket so no need to print.
