Traveling with my 18 year old and staying there for 3 nights after Lisbon. Recommendations?
Also, would love to be both at beach and walkable to a town.

When are you travelling?
Personally, I wouldn't want to stay in either of your choices. Albufeira stages far too many stag and hen parties and Vilamoura is a soulless, characterless modern development around a marina.
I would opt for Lagos, Burgau, Alvor or Carvoeiro which all offer a good range of restaurants and have beaches. Sagres is too windy. In the other direction from Faro, Tavira has plenty of character, but the beach is out on the barrier island, which involves taking a short ferry ride over.
