Need Help with Transportation from Algarve region to Evora

Need to travel on Thursday, May 23 from Lagos area to Evora. Train or bus is fine. What are our options?
The information that I have found on the cp.pt (train) website and the rede-expressos (bus) website is based on selecting a Thursday in an earlier month since neither appears to be selling tickets for May at this time.
We are more concerned with ease of travel (less changes, faster travel) than cost.
If best, we could hire a taxi to depart from Faro rather than Lagos if necessary although we are not sure of the distance between the two cities and the practicality of a taxi for the distance.
If you have information about options for us - and also information about when tickets can be purchased - we would appreciate it.

Thanks!

It's about 140 miles from Lagos to Evora, according to ViaMichelin.com. You'd have to pay a taxi for the round-trip mileage, which I imagine would be very costly. The terrain must be somewhat challenging (or the traffic), because ViaMichelin estimates the driving time at 3 hr. 14 min. with no stops included.

I have not traveled to Portugal recently and am not up on public-transportation options there. I know we have some posters who live in or travel frequently to Portugal, and I'm sure they can help.
