Near Alameda station?

I'll be staying in an apartment near the Alameda metro stop in Lisbon for a work conference starting next week. Does anyone have any recommendations for restaurants in the neighborhood? I'll be working from 9 to 6 but will have one day to get settled in Lisbon before the weeklong conference begins and I plan to go to the Gulbenkian Museum on that day. I've been fortunate enough to visit Lisbon before and have seen some of the sights, so this time I am happy to have the opportunity to pretend I am a resident of Lisbon and visit less-touristed areas. I would welcome any recommendations on how to spend my evenings after the conference ends. Thanks for your help -- I really appreciate the generosity of this community.

Unfortunately, I've never gotten off the metro at the Alameda station so don't know what's close around it. As you mentioned, the Gulbenkian is fairly close, as is El Corte Inglês in case you want to shop...
But, since the Alameda metro station is a major hub, it's very easy to get a lot of places quickly, easily and cheaply on the metro.

This is the link for the metro map. You can easily go to the Cais do Sodre area which is on the river and a great area to explore. From Cais do Sodre, you can hop the ferry to Calcilhas, across the Tejo. When you get off the ferry, turn right and walk along the water 10-15 minutes. You will be close to the 25 Abril Bridge and have a great view back to Lisbon. There are two nice restaurants right on the river..

The area around Cais do Sodre has become very popular with lots of restaurants and night life. It's developed fairly recently so may not have been a draw when you were here previously.

You can also get off at the Montim Moniz stop and explore the Mouraria neighborhood, which is also interesting.
