I'll be on the RS Portugal tour June 10-21 and am wondering if anyone has insight into how bad the mosquitoes are, given the recent high temperatures? Thanks in advance!
Take mosquito repellent just in case. You don’t want to spend your day visiting pharmacies or supermarkets if you need to buy it
I think it really depends on what part of the country you are in. Here in the Lisbon region, I never see mosquitoes. My windows are open with no screens all summer. I think I have read they get bad in the Algarve but maybe someone from that area will chime in. I’ve also been in the Silver Coast area, Evora, Porto and Douro in the summer and don’t remember dealing with them either.
I remember our hotel in Evora with mosquito netting draped over the bed!
As a reminder, spray, liquid, or paste/gel bug repellent needs to be in a 3.4 oz (100 ml) or smaller container if you’re doing carry-on luggage. Off! does make towelette wipes that come in little packets.
Thanks to those who replied. Yes, I have mosquito repellent, and I also found an anti-itch stick, just in case. I posted the question to mentally prepare myself in case the mosquitoes were really horrendous.
