Moorish tiles

Where can I see the Moorish tiles the original tiles is there a place in Lisbon? Like a museum or a mosque? I would be interested in viewing the ancient tiles can they be found in Lisbon? I’m not interested in contemporary only the ancient ones from mid evil times or whenever the original ones were made. Does anybody know anything about the original tiles where they can be seen?

Just walking around the city, you will see lots of buildings covered in tiles. Of course they are not from medieval times, but are original and beautiful. There are also tile shops around the city. But, be aware a lot of places sell tiles that have been taken off of buildings illegally.
And, yes, the Azulejo Museu is a lovely place to visit.

I loved the tile museum and you will see tiles everywhere. But don't reject the modern ones without at least taking a peek.

Every metro stop is tiled and unique. We took the metro primarily to see the tiled stations.

This is a fairly decent article with lots of pictures. There are other Portugal articles of potential interest if you scroll down.

I also love tiles, and enjoyed the Museu do Azulejo (Tile Museum) which exhibits from very ancient to very recent. Had a nice lunch in the museum’s garden bistro as well. Yes, there are tiles throughout Lisbon and many other towns in Portugal. The 1755 earthquake destroyed much of Lisbon, and led to extensive re-design and re-development of the city. As a result, many tiles were damaged or removed from destroyed buildings, and I understand that some are still circulating in antique shops, etc.

I recommend visiting the Mosteiro De Sao Vicente De Fora to see some beautiful tiles. The monastery is filled with gorgeous blue and white tiles. Fables and scenes of Portuguese life are depicted in the tiles. And follow the signs for the towers and rooftop terrace for awesome views of Lisbon and the river. It's a quiet place, too, with few tourists.
