Monsanto

We were in Monsanto for two nights three years ago. Both nights we ate at Petiscos & Granitos and both nights the meals were delicious! As for must dos - wander the streets to see how the houses are built into, around, under, the boulders. As you walk up the hill you can see the ruins of a settlement, a church, and the castle which also has a chapel, as well as some great views. There are also some great views from the little square as you enter the village and where you can park your car. You don't say whether you will make a day trip only or if you will spend a night or two. We tend to walk slowly and enjoy the views and sights but the walks I described can be done in one day if you walk quickly.
