I am going to Portugal this June, and I'm interested in going to the Minho region. There isn't any information on the area in the RS guidebook I have. My tentative plan is to go to Braga from either Porto or Coimbra for a day/night then go to Soajo and use it as a base camp for exploring the Peneda-Geres National Park.
If you have any information on visiting this area of Portugal, I would appreciate your advice/suggestions. Thanks!
Sorry, I'm not familiar with that area. I see that Braga is the end of the train line and does have car rental available (Auto Europe offers bookings with Europcar or Guerin agencies). Have you already seen the park web site? Lonely Planet also has a Minho chapter that you can buy online for $3.46.
This is a much less visited, but beautiful part of Portugal and English is less likely to be spoken in rural areas.
