Meet and greet car rental companies?

I'm unfamiliar with the term " meet and greet car rental". Could you elaborate?

Rather than you having to go to a rental desk, a "meet & greet" rental is just that - they meet you at an airport location, you sign the papers and they take you to your car.

Where or with what company have you found this type of service?

The service is mentioned on AutoEurope's website as something that's not available everywhere and has to be booked separately from the basic rental and, I'm sure, at a lovely additional cost.

I have done this a few times in the Azores. It is common there.

A representative from an off-airport company meets you after you collect your luggage. They will be holding a sign with your name on it. You sign the contract with the representative. They have your car and will bring it to the front door of the airport. Look for any damage and note it on the contract. Take pictures and a video! That’s about it.

Be certain where to drop the car off back at the airport, per the contract. Most times you will leave the key in the car and lock the door. Take pictures or a video of the car as proof.

I imagine it will be similar in Lisbon, but I have never done a meet and greet there.

I have done this multiple times in Greece. It is common there and a way for rental companies not to pay for space at the airport. There at least it is locally owned companies rather than the “majors” doing it this way.
