We are looking for month (30 or 31 days) rental in the Lisbon area or nearby and were looking at the standard websites like vrbo and airbnb. However we have hit a wall in that most of these websites offer only short term rentals. Does anyone know of more longer term rental sites?

Just a couple thoughts. Could you be hitting up against local regulations that treats short term rental different. Can you make two short term rentals back to back? See if you can find a local real estate agent in the area that does rentals. Goggle the web site for the town/area.
When I first moved to Portugal (2 1/2 years ago), I rented an apartment in Lisbon for a month, then Cascais for almost a month. I used Airbnb in Lisbon and VRBO here in Cascais. Of course, things could have changed, but then it was no problem. But it was off season. And, I got great prices.
Since I was curious, I just did a very cursory search on Airbnb. It turned up a number of apartments for a month during the rest of this winter. And, a quick search on VRBO for late spring also gave me a number of choices. Not sure what I’m doing (or not doing) that is giving me different results..
Thank you for the feedback. I went back to Airbnb and redid my search and was able to find some places. Must have been user error. We are now set to begin our adventure and cannot wait.
