Hello! We are planning a trip to Portugal this May, we have a tighter timeline and plan to be arriving in Lisbon (from Porto by train) Saturday morning, having Saturday afternoon, Sunday, and Monday (May Day) in Lisbon, departing for Madrid on Tuesday. The question is, will we be able to see Lisbons sights on a Sunday and holiday Monday? And, what is Lisbon like on May Day? Will public transportation be open and running? Restaurants open? Parades or protests? Thank you for any input!

We were in Porto last year for May Day. There were some labor parades but public transit and shops/etc. were all open as usual.

Labor Day is considered a bank holiday. Nothing except banks and, maybe a few business companies close. However, a number of restaurants regularly close on Monday.
