I’m overnight my first time in Lisbon & it happens to be on the Monday night before Mardi Gras Feb 12th in a couple of weeks-
I’m gettin in after dark & leaving the next morning but would love to catch a festival that night if there is one. I’m seeing something about a parade of clowns but no information about specifics where/when Also do the funiculars run at night? Thank you!
Carnaval is not a big thing in Portugal. You would likely find a more authentic Portuguese experience going to a restaurant or bar in Chiado or Bairro Alto for the evening. But, be aware that a lot of restaurants close on Monday, so google restaurants open on Monday before you go.
http://www.carris.pt/en/elevators This is the website for all the elevadors. It gives opening and closing times.
The Clown/parade/ball thing is actually in the town of Loures, north of Lisbon airport. Closer to the city, the Parque Nações looks like the main street fair location.
