For travel between Madrid and Lisbon, do you recommend train, bus, or plane?

This is a frequent question - use the Search function and you'll find plenty.
Short answer: fly.
The train is not at all what you expect from train travel in Europe (ie efficient and quick). The bus is a bus, cheaper and longer, but flights are not expensive.
