Hello
My husband and I are going to be spending a week in Madiera in late March and have another week that we can spend in Europe. Wondering whether we should add more days to Madiera or spend time in some other cities in Portugal or perhaps Spain? Is it best to fly from Lisbon to Madiera and spend time in Lisbon or Sinatra? I’m trying to figure out an itinerary.
We were in Lisbon for just a day a few years ago as a stop over for a hiking trip along the Fisherman’s Trail. Can anyone offer suggestions. We love the outdoors and museums and culture. Thanks.

I think it would make the most sense to spend the additional week in Lisbon. Multiple daily flights to Madeira and all of the museums and culture you would want. Day trips to Sintra and/or Cascais on the train are about 40 minutes and would fill out your wish list.

Thank you that makes sense. We probably would use public transport. Can you recommend any good hotels in Lisbon reasonably priced .

Hi,
Madeira for a 5, 6, 7 days with a car is a very relaxing vacation. Open wood fired cooked beef and chicken is out of this world. Driving the spine of the island was lovely. Funchal is a good city to walk around. The other days in Lisbon with possible side trips (Sintra or Evora) would give you a chance to really visit that city. Well worth the days.
