My husband and I are traveling to Portugal "heart Of Portugal in 12 days in June 2022. We would like to go to the island of Madeira. Any suggestions on hotels? How to get around on the island? We are planning to stay 2 days.

As I noted in your earlier thread, I think 2 days is just too short to justify flying to Madeira.
I was last in Madeira a long time ago, but at that time there was considerable public-bus service. I took several trips by bus, including one to Curral das Freiras. I also used the buses to get to a levada walk.

2 days is not enough for Madeira, especially if you like to hike.
Public transport is available, i think a car is better if you want to go around the island. 4 days would cover the island if you dont like hiking, at least a week if you do.
You can stay in Funchal centro and do daytrips.
