Luggage Storage in Coimbra

In May, we will be taking the train from Porto to Lisbon. We would like to get of in Coimbra for lunch. Is there luggage storage anywhere near the train station in Coimbra? If not, we could take a car and driver. Any recommendations for a reputable car and driver would be appreciated.
Thanks for any info provided!!

I seem to recall there was some place near the small train station in town that would store luggage, but that was a few years ago (and I didn't need the service). There are a number of little hotels near the Coimbra station - a few of them might be willing to store luggage for a few hours (expect to pay a few euros). I have done that in other towns.

Keep in mind that the fast trains don't stop in the town - they go through the Coimbra B station which is not in town. You can take another quick train ride to the little Coimbra station or take a taxi I guess.

Also consider this: from Coimbra (not Coimbra B) to Porto Sao Bento station means two train connections, because the fast trains also don't stop at Porto Sao Bento - they go through Porto Campanha station, if you take the fast train. But there are some regional trains that go direct station to station without any changes. Of course, they take longer - more stops. But because you don't have to change trains, it may not be much longer and is of course probably easier. I took a direct regional train from Coimbra to Porto Sao Bento this way - the regional train I was on was almost empty and I had plenty of room to spread out. (When you go - who knows?) I didn't have much luggage, but I would have had plenty of room for it.

Sorry, I had to step away from the computer for a few days so this response is tardy. Thanks for the detailed train information. I obviously need to do more research now that I have your input. I'll get it figured out. Thanks again!!

There are several apps for finding luggage storage. Kind of like a BnB for luggage. We used one in Catania, Sicily, where we left our luggage at a handy hotel.
