I have contacted 2 tour guides I have found on the Portugal blog, how do you know if reputable? I couldn’t find either on trip advisor, any suggestions for a good guide you have used?

I do a Google review search.
I look for a preponderance of positive reviews but pay close attention to the negative reviews , are they realistic and reasonable? It it something behond control (ex: weather)? Was it unreasonable expectations? Is it a misunderstanding or lack of knowledge of local laws , rules, culture?
They should be licensed, usually at the bottom of their webpages you'll see their lincesed number : RNAVT # and/or RAAT#
