Has anyone taken a literary themed tour of Lisbon, or made one up? I found two on tour aggregation sites but one was oddly unavailable. I would also consider a private guide who would do other parts of the city as well. But im on a bit of a budget.
Rachel this is a fantastic idea. Here is a link to a blog post I found with a self-guided literary tour, this might give you some ideas:
https://www.lostinlisbon.com/en/blog/literary-lisbon-tour-places-inspired-portugals-greatest-writers/. If you go to the Bertrand Bookstore (oldest operating in the world), if you buy a book, you can ask for stamp in either English or Portuguese. Also, when we were in Lisbon in September, they were having a book faire around the corner from Betrand, so you may check out their site for events when you visit. Near by Bertrand is Café A Brasileira, where writers and artist gathered in early 20th century. I skipped the Cafe the first time in Lisbon thinking it was too touristy, but went the second time and really enjoyed eating outside (great people watching) and they have some of the best French toast I have ever had.
Thanks! Great info!
