We are thinking of going from southern Spain to Lisbon, Portugal at the end of March (3/21-27ish), as part of a 6 week trip. But we're worried it may be too rainy. We can deal with some rain, but not constant and not drenching downpours. Anyone have a sense of what we may expect at the end of March there? (Yes, we have looked at various websites, but it is not clear really what to expect). Thanks!
Nobody has the ability to forecast the weather 6 weeks in advance. You can only look at the historical averages.
For a more detailed forecast you need to wait till a few days before.
Constant, drenching downpours really don’t happen - at least in the Lisbon region. Even the flooding in December wasn’t days on end of rain - and that was extremely abnormal. When I moved here, I was pleasantly surprised that rain showers usually are brief in duration. On an really rainy day, we might get several showers, but I’ve only seen a rain of many hours once in seven years.
March can still be rainy but you are likely to also get days with lots of sunshine. And, if you see a forecast with rain on a given day, that rain could be in the middle of the night and not impact your day at all.
