We are planning a trip to Portugal next September/October coming via the US (from New Zealand) and then ending with a week with friends in Spain.
Does anyone have a view on whether it would be better to travel south to north or vice versa?
We want to start fairly slowly so maybe 6-7 nights at the first place then gradually speed up
Thanks
Since you are coming in the fall, I would suggest starting in Porto - simply because it’s cooler in the north. Unless you prefer cooler, potentially wetter, weather.
That said, 6-7 nights might be better in Lisbon because there is, arguably, more to do and see.
In other words, there are advantages and disadvantage to both! I would likely make the decision based on the best flight connections and prices (if there is a difference).
