Lisbon to Duoro Valley: Itinerary/Train question

Good day all,

I was originally planning 2 weeks in Portugal, but the opportunity came up to meet some friends in Paris in the middle of these 2 weeks. I have reservations in the Duoro Valley (Seixo de Ansiães) Aug 11-13th - I land back in Lisbon at 5:30pm on the 10th. That original trip included 2 nights in Coimbra, but that will need to be one night now, or out completely.
So, in the name of efficiency (however Im very active and don't mind some crazy travel days!), I'm trying to figure out if I should take the high speed train from Lisbon to Porto on the night of the 10th, or stay overnight near the airport and head out early the next day for Porto, then the second train to the valley (would be close to 6 hours of trains that day). Other option is to head to Coimbra after I land on the 10th, and then head from Coimbra to Porto (then Duoro) the morning of the 11th. I just wasn't sure how easy transport was from Coimbra to Porto.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Could you change your flight from Paris to Porto instead of Lisbon? That would make things much easier I think…

Thank you! That was extremely helpful. I hadn’t even initially looked at this option as I assumed I’d be hit with terrible change fees… Air France for the win! I was able to get my flight moved to Porto for.. drumroll… $6. I’m so glad I went with my gut when I initially booked this Paris trip and got the tix through AF and not a low-cost carrier. They made it incredibly easy on the app. Even found a nice $43 Airbnb in Porto by the purple line train from the airport that night, and I can head out to the valley around lunch and not worry about rushing. Cheers!
