Lisbon to Cascais train ticket purchase

Lisbon to Cascais is a urban commuter train line.No online tickets. It's the same with the Lisbon to Sintra line.

Riders purchase the Navegante Ocasional card in person at the station and load it with money and use the card readers at the station before boarding the train.

Last time I was at Lisbon, I purchased 24 hour metro card to travel all around Lisbon using metro and trams..
Does 24 hour metro card cover Lisbon to Cascais (or Lisbon to Sintra)??
Just never heard of Navegante Ocasional card before..

Navegante Ocasional is used by most transit systems in the Lisbon area.

You can load money for zapping or 24hour ticket.
If you want the 24 hr ticket make sure it's the right one for the system you're going to use.

I'm not sure I understand the term "money zapping".

Navagante Ocasional is the new name for the card. Most of us know it as the Via viagem or zapping card. It is good on all public transit in the Lisboa region and works on buses, commuter trains, metro and ferries. It subtracts the amount of whatever mode of transit you are using from the amount you load on the card. It’s ‘zaps’ the amount from your card. Very easy and convenient.

The word zapping is used instead of scanning.

Money zapping means scanning the card that has been loaded with money.
Ticket zapping means scanning the card that has been loaded with a ticket.
