Lisbon, Sunday - where to find an inexpensive local place to eat?

On my last trip a few years ago, I discovered that on Sunday, it is very hard to find somewhere to eat. Wandering up to Bairro Alto from Rossio, I finally stumbled across a tiny place (3 or 4 small tables). I found it because it was about the only place open. Ihad a wonderful inexpensive dinner (fish plate, wine). My upcoming trip includes a Sunday in Lisbon. If I can manage to find that place, I will return! Otherwise, what is the best way to find an inexpensive local restaurant on Sunday in Lisbon?

Thanks.
Terry

Things must have changed in the last few years, because now I cant remember ever seeing a restaurant closed on Sunday! If you haven't been here since the Time Out Market opened, it's a fun place to eat - as long as you go early. Or, the Mouraria area of Lisbon has a number of small places, as does the Alfama. The further off the tourist track you go, the more likely you will find more 'typical' Portuguese restaurants.

The restaurant listings in Rick's guidebook all include opening hours and days of the week. In summer or early fall, however, some smaller, family-run places might take a couple of weeks off for vacation, which is not detailed there. Other resources like Time Out (www.timeout.com/lisbon/restaurants), Michelin, and GoogleMaps will usually do the same, or link you to a restaurant's web site.

A Gina is open on Sunday. It get's mixed reviews from the Yelpers but we dined there twice this summer we enjoyed it so much. The fish is displayed in a case so you can see what looks fresh. Kabobs are huge. Order less rather than more. This is really a back alley place tucked in behind the Hotel Lisboa Plaza.
