The 2021 RS Portugal edition does not seem to address how I could store luggage in Lisbon been arriving at its airport in the early morning and checking into a AirBnB later in central Lisbon that same day. Thoughts?
Several of the train stations have luggage lockers according to the train operator:
You can also check with your Airbnb host if it’s possible to drop off your bags early.
Not a direct answer to your questions, but have you considered booking/paying for the night of your flight, and going directly to the AirBnB upon arrival? (Pre-arrange with host, of course. But I've had hosts meet me at 8am to let me into apartments. another that was earlier, but that was a code for access.)
In Lisbon you can use self-storage lockers at the Rossio metro station. There may be others at other metro stations, but I have used those several times in the past. You can check their website here:
Very helpful. Thanks for the replies.
In addition to luggage storage lockers at train stations (I used the one a Apolonia station), there are (or were in 2019) small storefronts in many parts of Lisbon that store luggage for about the same fee per hour as the lockers. If you are not able to leave your bag early at your B&B, ask if there is somewhere nearby.
Have you enquired at your AirBnB? some offer it. Otherwise, open a google map of you Airbnb location, and in the Nearby section type 'luggage storage'. Or, google luggage storage in 'whatever neighbourhood' Lisbon. In the past 5 years many businesses offer luggage storage as well as their main business.
For example, in Salisbury, I needed to store luggage while taking a day trip to Stonehenge. Across the street from the train station, there was a pub that had breakfast hours, so I left it there for a pound or two. I got a claim tag and they wheeled it into the back room.
Now, there may need to be some element of trust, but there are apps and bound to be reviews for all the choices out there at present.
