Lisbon Sintra Cascais, and later Porto and Douro

We are 2 woman traveling on our own in Portugal in the spring , Lisbon in late April and Porto in mid May .
How do you suggest we see Sintra and Cascais from Lisbon?

When we are in Porto how do you suggest we best see Douro? I have read about the Presidential Train with gourmet meals to Douro. Is that enough? Or is a Douro cruise necessary?

We were just in Porto & Lisbon in late October/early November. From Porto we took a day tour to the Douro Valley that included wine tasting, a multi course lunch and an hour boat ride on the river. We enjoyed it a lot. In Lisbon we took two different day tours including a tour to Sintra and Cascais with Lisbon Riders. They were fantastic and I can’t say enough good things about our guide for both tours. Puri was a gem.

If you feel comfortable sharing, what were the specifics of your Douro and your Sintra and your caiscais tours? Was sintra a separate tour on a different day from Cascais? Were they private tours w driver picknup at hotel? If yes, what were their names & numbers ?

If you have enough time, I'd suggest staying in Sintra for 2-3 nights. That way you can explore after the daytrippers leave. We stayed for 3 nights and very much enjoyed our quiet evenings there.

The Sintra/Cascais tour was a small group (8 max and we had 6, including 4 in our party) all day tour. We had a balance of time with the guide and free time. We went to Sintra early before the big busses arrived, then to Cascais. We then returned to Sintra for the Pena Palace, where we were able to skip all the lines. I highly recommend this tour.

The Douro tour was with Yellow Bus. We only had about a dozen people on the tour, but there could be many more depending on how many signed up.
