My wife and I are planning our first trip to Portugal and Spain for May/June 2016. We would like to spend four or five days in Lisbon, but I'm not sure of the best timing. The "sardine festival", leading up to the St. Anthony's day holiday, sounds like a fun time to visit, but maybe not the best time to see the sights of Lisbon. Can anyone who has visited/lived in Lisbon at this time provide some insight as to what to expect? We are a couple in our early sixties, well travelled in Europe, and like getting into the life of the places we visit, but also want to see the main attractions. Thanks for any advice you can give.
