Hello!
We are going to be in Lisbon in the early part of September for 4 days. Looking for great food and atmosphere. Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance!
Climb the hills to the Bairro Alto! There's some nice little restaurants and tiny little bars meant for only buying your drink, then actually drinking it outside. There's a great Argentinian style steakhouse on Rua Dom Pedro at the very top of the neighborhood-sit outside for an incredible view.
Try Cervejaria Trindade. It is a very good restaurant that is located in an old monestary/brewery. It too is near the Bairro Alto on Rua Nova da Trindade. The place has tons of atmosphere and great food at a reasonable price. Just try to find a place with good Port and Fado (music) after dinner and you are all set.
If you are up in Castelo/ Alfama area both Clara's em Castelo and Le Petit Cafe were fabulous. Clara's is a tiny little place, you would want a reservation.
If you're willing to splurge a bit and don't mind a 15 minute cab ride out of the city center into the burbs, try O Paparico. Our concierge recommended it, and we were not disappointed--multiple courses, multiple wines, exquisite service, and the total tab was 140 euros. We looked into it after going, and discovered it is routinely rated as highly as the Rui Paula restaurant DOP, one of the best around.
